Gynecology Guide: Welcome to My Practice Blog
Welcome. My name is Elisa Mahlberg, I am a specialist in gynecology and obstetrics, and from July I will be opening my own practice in Dormagen. With this gynecology guide, I want to create a place where you can find calm, well-founded information about the female body. Many questions arise outside the consultation room, in the evening, on a walk or between two appointments. This blog is meant to offer orientation in exactly those moments.
Why a dedicated gynecology guide
Anyone who has searched for health information online knows the feeling: every question raises ten new ones. Some texts reassure, others unsettle, many contradict each other. This gynecology guide is designed to help here. It puts medical topics into context, explains how things connect and supports you in understanding your symptoms.
The blog does not replace a medical examination. But it can prepare a conversation, sharpen a question or give you the feeling that you are not alone with a concern. My goal is not to provide a diagnosis. My goal is for you to feel a little more confident after reading.
Who I am and how I work
I am a specialist in gynecology and obstetrics and a mother of two. Over the past years I have worked in different settings, from hospital to practice. Throughout that time it has become increasingly clear what matters to me in medicine: understandable language, shared decisions and care that does not just treat symptoms but explains the bigger picture.
Since becoming a mother myself, topics such as pregnancy, birth and the time afterwards have taken on additional depth. I know how many uncertainties these phases can bring, and how helpful it is to have a doctor who listens and does not judge too quickly. This perspective shapes my work, without generalizing it. Every woman brings her own story. You can read more about my background on the page About Elisa Mahlberg.
Why Dormagen
Dormagen is a deliberate choice. It is a town with many families and with women in very different stages of life, from the first check-up through family planning and pregnancy to menopause. It was important to me to settle in a place where long-term relationships can grow. For me, medicine lives from trust, continuity and proximity. If you would like an impression of the practice in Dormagen, you will find the most important information there.
Topics you will find in this gynecology guide
The blog will grow step by step. Planned focus areas include:
All content is based on medical experience and current research. It is written calmly, without drama and without unnecessary jargon. Where technical terms are needed, I explain them in the same sentence.
My approach in the consultation
In my practice I stand for medicine that is well-founded and at the same time understandable. I work in an evidence-based way and complement this, where it makes sense, with selected methods such as phytotherapy or gynecological taping. We see complementary approaches as a sensible addition, not as a replacement for necessary medical diagnostics or therapy.
Not every complaint needs immediate treatment. But every complaint deserves attention. Sometimes a calm explanation is the most important thing, sometimes a targeted examination, sometimes a shared decision to wait and observe. Which path fits for you, we discuss together.
How to use this gynecology guide
You can use this blog in different ways. Some patients read an article before an appointment to sort out their questions. Others want to make sense of a symptom that has been with them for a while. Still others are simply curious about medical connections.
If, after reading an article, you understand your body a little better, can phrase your questions more clearly or feel a bit more confident, then this blog has done its job. And if you would like to take the next step together, I look forward to welcoming you. You can book an appointment at any time.
Yours, Elisa Mahlberg
