Elisa Mahlberg, gynecologist in Dormagen

In our practice on Florastraße 8 you are welcome with your German electronic health insurance card. Medical care is the same for every patient, regardless of insurance status. The difference lies in billing and in access to services beyond the statutory scope.

Frauenarztpraxis Elisa Mahlberg: care with your German insurance card

Our gynecology practice is new in Dormagen and actively accepts new statutorily insured patients. Whether you have moved to Dormagen, are looking for your first personal gynecologist after school, or simply need a new screening appointment — you are welcome.

As a statutorily insured patient you receive the full gynecological scope provided by the GKV — from cancer screening to prenatal care to acute complaints.

How your first appointment as a statutorily insured patient works

A first appointment as a statutorily insured patient is straightforward:

  • Booking. Online via Doctolib or by phone on +49 2133 / 97 78 020. Please mention at booking that it is your first visit.
  • What to bring. Your electronic health insurance card (eGK), and where helpful vaccination booklet, Mutterpass, relevant prior findings and a current medication list. A referral letter is not required — the eGK is enough.
  • History and examination. We discuss your background, current concerns and overall health, then do the gynecological exam and, depending on the situation, ultrasound or a pap smear.
  • Next steps. Findings are explained in plain language, follow-up appointments booked where helpful.

If you are coming from another practice, the transition is uncomplicated. A formal deregistration with your previous practice is not needed. On your request we ask the previous practice for relevant prior findings so that nothing important is lost.

What statutory insurance covers at the gynecologist

As a statutorily insured patient, all GKV-covered services in the gynecological scope are available with us:

  • Annual cancer screening per current guidelines: pap smear (up to 34), combined pap + HPV screening (from 35), breast examination (from 30).
  • Prenatal care per Mutterschaftsrichtlinien including the three standard ultrasounds and CTG where indicated.
  • Contraception advice and medically indicated methods (for women under 22 many preparations are covered directly by statutory insurance).
  • Hormone consultation where medically indicated (PMS, PMDD, cycle disorders, suspected PCOS, menopausal symptoms).
  • HPV vaccination for girls and young adults up to 17 – many insurers cover it beyond 17 on request.
  • Acute consultations for pain, bleeding, suspected infection.
  • Video consultation as a GKV service, provided you have seen us in person once within the current quarter (KBV rule).

In addition we offer optional self-pay services such as breast ultrasound or transvaginal ultrasound. These are discussed transparently before each use. Details on the private gynecologist page.

Medical care is the same for every patient — regardless of whether the visit runs through your insurance card or a private invoice.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions – statutory insurance patients

Yes. Our practice in Dormagen is new and actively accepts new statutorily insured patients. Book online via Doctolib or by phone on +49 2133 / 97 78 020.

Your electronic health insurance card (eGK) is the essential item. Ideally also: vaccination booklet, Mutterpass (if pregnant), relevant previous findings or doctor's letters, current medication list. If you don't have any of those, no problem – we start with a history and collect what's missing later.

Simply: you do not need to formally "deregister" from your previous practice. Just book an appointment with us, bring your eGK, and on request we ask your old practice for prior findings (pap smears, ultrasound images, lab results). A referral letter is not usually required.

Insurance covers every medically indicated service: cancer screening, prenatal care, acute complaints, hormone diagnostics where medically indicated, HPV vaccination up to 17 and more. Self-pay services such as a breast ultrasound without statutory indication are discussed transparently before each use.

Currently a few working days to a few weeks depending on the concern. Screening visits are planned with more lead time; acute complaints are handled short-notice – just call us. For prescription renewals or short follow-ups, video consultation is available.

Yes. English-language appointments are possible with us, regardless of insurance status. Please mention it briefly when booking.
