Holistic women’s health in Dormagen

Women's health is more than lab values and diagnosis codes. In our practice we combine modern conventional gynecology with carefully selected, evidence-oriented complementary approaches – specifically phytotherapy and gynecological taping, where they make medical sense.

Elisa Mahlberg, gynecologist in Dormagen – holistic women’s health

Holistic gynecology here means: seeing you as a person, working medically soundly, and offering complementary approaches where they are medically useful. We understand naturopathy as a meaningful complement, not as a replacement for necessary medical diagnostics or therapy.

Conventional medicine and complementary methods — connected where it makes sense

Many patients want their symptoms to be seen in context — life phase, stress, sleep, cycle, prior experiences. We take that wish seriously. At the same time we do not want to make promises we cannot keep, or suggest additional qualifications we do not hold.

Holistic women's health, for us, means listening, taking a proper history, providing medical context, and a deliberate selection of complementary approaches that we actually master and that can be placed scientifically.

What happens in an integrative women's health appointment

A holistic appointment typically runs like this:

  • History. Your symptoms, cycle, sleep, mood, stress, nutrition, activity, medication, medical history, previous experiences with complementary approaches.
  • Gynecological exam and diagnostics. Ultrasound, hormone work-up or smears where needed – classical gynecology remains the base.
  • Targeted complementary suggestions. Where it fits: phytotherapy recommendations, gynecological taping, referral to pelvic-floor physiotherapy, sleep hygiene or stress regulation. Which specific preparations or measures make sense for you, we discuss individually.
  • Transparent placement. We make it clear where complementary methods are useful and where the evidence is thin.

Phytotherapy and gynecological taping – our focus

In our holistic women's health, what we offer is what we master and where we see scientific sense:

  • Phytotherapy. Plant-based preparations have a role in women's health for various topics — for example PMS, cycle complaints or menopausal symptoms. Which preparation can make sense in your situation, we discuss individually, with a clear placement of mechanism and limits.
  • Gynecological taping. Kinesiology taping, trained via the K-Taping Academy. We use it for lower-back or abdominal pain in pregnancy, back complaints or after procedures. Drug-free and applied during your appointment.
  • Micronutrient placement. Supplementation can be individually useful, ideally based on lab status. Which micronutrients fit your situation, we discuss together.
  • Psychosomatic primary care. We pay attention to psychosomatic aspects in gynecological care and address them in the medical conversation.

Our scope: we do not currently offer acupuncture. We are evaluating whether to add this in the future. We do not hold the German additional qualification "Naturheilverfahren" and do not work as an "Ärztin für Naturheilkunde". We understand naturopathy as a meaningful complement, not as a replacement for necessary medical diagnostics or therapy.

Holistic means, for us: seeing you. And being honest about what medicine – on both sides – can actually do.

When does a holistic appointment fit you?

An appointment makes sense if one of the following applies:

  • you want to address PMS, menopause-related complaints or cycle disorders alongside conventional medicine,
  • you are looking for complementary options to standard gynecological care,
  • you have lower-back or abdominal pain in pregnancy, or back complaints where taping could be an option,
  • you would like a medical placement of micronutrients or phytotherapy,
  • you have been through many contradictory recommendations and want a calm review.
FAQ

Frequently asked questions about holistic women's health

Modern conventional medicine as the base, complemented by selected, evidence-oriented approaches we actually master: phytotherapy, gynecological taping, micronutrient guidance and psychosomatic primary care.

No. Elisa Mahlberg is a consultant in gynecology and obstetrics and does not hold the German additional qualification "Naturheilverfahren". Our practice offers complementary approaches only where they are medically defensible and where we can document the training – e.g. K-Taping training for taping.

We do not currently offer acupuncture. We are evaluating whether to add this in the future.

Kinesiology taping with elastic tape to support various complaints, for example lower-back or abdominal pain in pregnancy, back complaints or complaints after procedures. We are trained via the K-Taping Academy and apply the tape during your appointment — drug-free and without restricting movement.

Supplementation can be individually useful, ideally based on lab results. Which micronutrients fit your situation, we discuss together. We understand naturopathy as a meaningful complement, not as a replacement for necessary medical diagnostics or therapy.

Yes, many patients do. A part of the topics can be handled within the annual check-up. For more complex questions (structured PMS support, menopause planning with complementary elements) it is worth booking a dedicated appointment — just mention it when booking.
