Renovation of the Gynaecology Practice in Dormagen: A Place Where You Feel at Home
From 10 to 21 August 2026, the gynaecology practice in Dormagen will be closed. The reason is a good one: the practice is being renovated. From 24 August 2026, I will be welcoming my patients back in a newly designed environment – with two consultation rooms, a lounge instead of a waiting room, and equipment that works quietly in the background so that you can take centre stage. In this post, you will find out what is changing, how cover is arranged during the closure, and what you can look forward to.
When the practice is closed
The practice is closed from Monday 10 August to Friday 21 August 2026 inclusive. The last consultation day before that is Friday 7 August. From Monday 24 August 2026, the usual consultation hours apply again.
During these two weeks we cannot be reached by phone or email. Prescription requests, referrals and results discussions that can wait are best scheduled before 7 August, or for the time from 24 August onwards.
Who looks after you during this time
For gynaecological concerns that cannot wait, a covering practice in Düsseldorf is available while we are closed:
MVZ Aachener Straße
Aachener Str. 160
40223 Düsseldorf
Please bring your health insurance card to an appointment there and, if you have one, your maternity record or relevant previous findings.
For acute symptoms outside consultation hours the usual routes apply: the on-call medical service can be reached nationwide on 116117, and in life-threatening situations you should call 112.
What is changing in the rooms
Rooms have an effect before a single word is spoken. Sitting in a cramped waiting room with rows of chairs is a different starting point from having had a moment to settle. That is exactly what the refurbishment addresses.
The waiting area is becoming a lounge with coffee and water — a place to arrive rather than to sit it out. Alongside it there will be two spacious consultation rooms, one of them with ultrasound. For you that means shorter distances inside the practice and more calm during the conversation, because examination and discussion no longer compete for the same room.
A visit to the gynaecologist is not an everyday appointment for many patients. Some come with questions about prenatal care, others about cancer screening, some for the very first time. A lounge instead of a waiting room is therefore not a luxury but a signal: you are welcome here, and how you are doing has room.
What stays the same
What is being refurbished are the rooms, not the practice. You will meet the same people at reception: Ms Dziomba and Ms Ernst remain your contacts, and the consultation hours are unchanged too. You can see what the practice looks like on the practice page.
Unfortunately the structural limits also remain: the practice is on the first floor and reachable by lift, but the door widths and the toilet still do not meet the requirements for full accessibility. We state openly what that means on our accessibility page. If you are unsure whether access works for you, please call us before 7 August — we will then plan your appointment accordingly.
Appointments from 24 August
You can already book appointments for dates from 24 August — online booking continues to run normally throughout the closure. Whether it is a routine check, something you have been carrying around with you for a while, or a first visit: you do not have to wait until we reopen to secure a slot.
You will find all the ways to book on the appointments page.
I look forward to welcoming you from 24 August in our new rooms.
